Getty Images : Landscape

With many to choose from, I found this picture most interesting out of the varioused viewed because, of course the outspoken colors found within the image as well as the placement of trees and flower beds. Iam very impressed and pleased to see flower beds in both the foreground and background. With taken some landscaping pictures of my own I tried to take such a skill of using both grounds to create an image that is appealing. The colors found here captured my eyes when viewing pages of endless imspiring landscape images and left me impressed as well as wanting to be in such a beautiful and colorful environment.

My Landscape Images(s)

Although not your typical landscape shot, these three images are indeed my own landscape photos that I have taken as a photography 1-2 student. From what I have heard recently from both my teacher and peers landscape images tend to be kind of if not very boring. In all shots I tried to use angles to make the picture more interesting. My favorite out of the three is the image shown right above with the tan flower bud in the top right hand corner of the picture. This one is my favorite because it an object in shown in both the foreground as well as the background thus creating a horizon which is pleasing to the eye. When viewing this image you will notice that plant life frames the majority of the picture which leaves the viewer following some sort of path around the edges. I have to admit if it werent such a beautiful day outside my pictures could of suffered and not of came out the way they did, vibrant and very colorful. Iam pleased with all three of these images and many others that I took during this shoot. All these pictures were taken in my large backyard and I cannot wait to take more.

MOPA assignment

During this assignment involving identity, I used a female model to represent the women within my family. Most of the women in my family struggled as single mothers and experienced many hardships through out their time of rasing a family. This picture represents the identity of my mom, my grandmother, and all other women who find difficulty when brining up their children alone. In some cases many turned to drinking and other types of addiction when faced with struggles that they could not handle. Luckily for myself as well for my sister, my mother never turned to addictions to solve her problems and worries. My mother is a strong women and that side of her is not shown in this image, not even at the slightest bit.

Timeline Reflection

This timeline project has been one of my favorites during this second semester. While trading ideas my group and I decided to cover photography history through the time of the 1910s to present day. With having photography information, on our timeline, we also used photographs that to represent that decade. My group and I decided to do this so the viewers could relate the images with the information to better grasp when the events throughout photography history actually happened. The other two members and I worked very hard and creatively when putting together the frames and the just the entire timeline itself. Overall Iam pleased with the end result of our timeline and have a realization on how important and fascinating photography history actually is.

Portriat Assigment

From the article we read, here, I tried my best to apply all the information given to me in this image. From both this assignment as well as the article I have learned that a portrait takes more thought than a snapshot. A snapshot is primarily a photo taken during the action of something and is usually not posed. With taking this photo I did and did not try and pose my model. Asked her to just simply stand there. Iam pleased with this photo, and I really do like the colors shown within it. Usually in portraits the model is shown from the shoulders up and/ or from the chest up. In this image I also tried to use that way to make it look more like an actual portrait. Over the course of the year I have also found a realization of compostion and I feel as if Iam improving on composition within the pictures that I take.

SCPA Group Shot

In attempts of capturing the artisic playground that is SCPA, i have produced this image that portrays four of the art forms SCPA has to offer students. These four, being photography, visual arts, music, and dance I was able to catch a sense of what SCPA is all about. Although I am very proud of my work, I must admit that Iam displeased with this image's compostition and the lack of portrayal I intended the image to possess. If I were to change the image's compostition I would pull the person shown closest to the right had corner down farther so there would not be an illusion of a dancer posing out of the top of the person's head. One more thing I would change would be the closest figure's intent to convey photography. I wish I had a camera to have given her to hold and pretend to use during my shoot but I talked myself into approaching the portrayal of photography to be represented in a different way. Overall, Iam happy to see that I have captured some sort of essence SCPA has. In the process of developing my film and printing, I have realized that my skills in printing has improved since the beginning of the school year. Iam glad that I had the opportunity to work with strobe which was an interesting subject to learn about as well as work with and Iam also pleased with the sucess of this image.

Softening Photoshop

Softening this image with photoshop was a learning experience that Iam glad to have gone through. With being an unexperienced new comer when it comes to photoshop having Ms.Miles walk us through step by step was very helpful. I enjoyed editing this image with the help of photoshop, however I enjoyed the brushes assignment more due to the fact that the usage of the brushes allowed me to be more creative and express my personality more when compared to just softening. This tool and knowledge on how to soften an image will come in handy in the future when editing upcoming works.

Photoshop Brush/Softening Assignment

Trough out the process of creating this finished worked I learned many things about composition and about photoshop when working with brushes. Looking at magazines I was always curious as to how prints made its way upon an image so now Iam grateful for having my curiosity cured. With working recently with the brushes on photoshop I now have some amount of experience with photoshop and the brush tool.

Sequence Book

As you might be able to tell by my effort, I enjoyed this assignment more than any other assignment given to me through out this semester. My theme for this sequence book was " he loves me, he loves me not " a child's game where you pick petals off of a flower to determine if a person is interested in you or not. It is pure foolishness & that is part of the reason as to why I enjoy it. Once again I have used a beautiful model, Kayleigh Ferguson to show off the outcome of this game. The process of making this book was delightful and I wish make many books such as this one in the future. Also, during printing I have noticed that my eye for contrast as well as previous experiences with printing in the dark room has helped me develop my printing skills that I possess now. I used the drawings within the book to create the entirety of the book's stature. As a photographer, Iam very pleased with this book's outcome and will keep it forever.

Four By Four

In attempts to re-enact a well known asian photographer, this image is a product of a previous or so to say a similar idea of imagery. The four personas I protray here in this image, comes from my own self. We have the trouble maker, the tired over-worked young women, the little shy girl, and the confused day dreamer. I hope you are able to relate the titles with the four images shown below, fore I tried my very best to make it clear enough to relate them. I enjoyed creating this image and finishing this project. It was fun to dress up and take on different arrays of myself. I find it neat that we were able to take a simple photograph, duplicate in a fashion to where the layout is appealing to the eye. Although this being our last assignment for the first semester of black and white photography, I intend to continue with this style and process.

Photoshop Inquiry Assignment

Soliders from the Civil War united with what appears to be a friendly Native American, can take place with using the proper tools found within Photoshop . I chose these two pictures and brought them together due to the fact that Iam somewhat fascinated with native americans and their culture and with the information given to me about them I can say that they are deeply associated in war. With bringing these two images together I used the Native American photograph as the base and added the two soliders into the photograph by using Photoshop. With the lazer tool I was able to completely outline the two soliders and transfer the outlined soliders as a solid image onto the image of the native american man and save it a one full image. Photoshop is great and Iam glad I get to work with it.

Studio Lighting

Within these four images there shows a model shown in studio lighting, but to choose one to critique I would have to towards your attention to the image that is shown second. To describe this photograph I can say that the model is place the majority of the center but still retains a bit to the right. The model is shown with a white flower behind her left ear which shows contrast with her dark hair. Also as her appearance she is dressed in a white v-neck shirt and is wearing a gold necklace. Being the main focus of the entire picture the models gives an expression which portrays seduction and interest in a way. In another way the model can give off a sense of purity and innocence. With taking this photo the message that comes from it is an intense stare which can lead either way of innocence or seduction. How the lighting is set up in this image really compliments the model's outer and inner beauty. As for the print, the shades from black to white do not seem to separate themselves from one another. The whites are seen as shades of gray, however after printing this image numerous times I found that leaving the tones in a such such of this gives the picture what is needed and makes it serene.
